The ASTt remains discussed
in this analysis were gathered during the field activities of the
Canadian Museum of Civilization's Northern Oil and Gas Action Plan
(NOGAP) Archaeology Project. I am grateful to my NOGAP colleagues at
the Archaeological Survey of Canada for their help and support over the
many years of the project, namely Luc Nolin, Jane Dale, Ken Swayze,
David Morrison, Raymond Le Blanc and Jacques Cinq- Mars. Excavations at
the East Point of the Vidiitshuu site only took place because of Luc
Nolin's insistence on systematically testing this area. His
perseverance paid off quite nicely. I would like to further recognize
the different members of field crews who helped expose the ASTt remains:
Willie Simon Modeste, Verna Mae Firth, Ken Stark, Bruce Jamieson, Phil
Woodley, Arianne Burke, Deanna Ludowicz, Diane Cockle, Fulgence
Belcourt, Michael T.G.Jackson, and Bob Humen. The very important
support made available by the Inuvik Research Centre is thankfully
recognized. While readily acknowledging full responsibility for the
ideas presented in this article, I would nonetheless like to recognize
the valuable comments of Pat Sutherland, Don Clark, David Morrison and
William Fitzhugh, who reviewed earlier drafts. Finally, I would like to
thank Abbie Kwong Pilon for her continuing support and understanding.
