The overall purpose of the NOGAP Archaeological Project was set out from the beginning and followed. However, the objectives for any given summer's fieldwork were determined on the basis of the previous year's discoveries and the analyses which had been carried out during the intervening winter. Plans were constantly changing, sometimes right up to the departure for the field!! The strategy for any given summer had to be flexible enough to allow a shift in plans if new information came to light. As a result, we sometimes did not do what we had set out to do in any particular summer.
