At the turn of the century, Pauline Cove on Herschel Island was the overwintering
location of the American whaling fleet in the Beaufort Sea.
Herschel Island is now a Territorial Park boasting
a unique landscape, plant and animal communities, as well as a long and
colourful history beginning with centuries old Mackenzie Inuit and Inuvialuit
occupations. The existing buildings relate to the late nineteenth/early twentieth century.
