Editor's Notes: On archaeological theory as a rite of passage

What is the role of archaeological theory in the classroom? When should it be taught? These are questions that I’ve pondered in my capacity as the current Undergraduate Curriculum Committee chair of a department of archaeology, and also as an instructor teaching both Archaeological Theory and Introduction to Archaeology the past two semesters.
