Logo Contest Winner

CAA 2021 logo

We are excited to announce the winning entry in our conference logo contest! It was submitted by Tekla Cunningham, a fourth year undergraduate student majoring in Biological Anthropology at the University of Winnipeg. The three figures in primary colours represent the different perspectives and diverse backgrounds of archaeologists in Canada, as well as the diversity of and within the communities we study in the past. The double triangle represents the "tent" that is Canadian archaeology, which aspires to be a community where all are welcome and have a place.

CJA Survey Results

Print vs. electronic: 70% of respondents already receive the journal electronically or would prefer to switch to electronic than pay extra for the print version. The remaining 30% would be willing to pay an additional fee for the print version, though many of them commented that they understand that the print version may be unsustainable.

CAA Announces New Partnership with the American Cultural Resources Association

The CAA Board of Directors is excited to announce a new partnership between the Canadian Archaeological Association and the American Cultural Resources Association (ACRA). Find out more about ACRA here.  This partnership allows CAA members to take advantage of ACRA training and professional development opportunities (annual conference, workshops and webinars) at the same rates as ACRA members. These new benefits will be especially valuable to CAA members in the cultural resource management sector.

Call for Virtual Conference Chair

In 2021 the CAA would like to host a virtual conference, throughout the month of May. This could include remote versions of paper and poster sessions, and interactive webinars, as well as the annual Board of Directors meeting and AGM.

We are looking for a volunteer to serve as conference chair on behalf of the CAA, and other volunteers to serve on the organizing committee.

If you would like to help take our conference virtual, please contact Lisa Hodgetts at president@canadianarchaeology.com.
