Some results from the study of small archaeological sites

B. Ball; B. Spurling

Abstract

Results from two separate studies carried out on small sites are presented. The importance of small, limited activity sites in hunter-gatherer systems is well known from a number of recent ethnographic and ethnoarchaeological studies. However, it is these kinds of sites which continue to receive little attention in archaeological projects, both at the pure research and applied levels. To underline the potential and importance of these site types we present results from studies undertaken on two separate projects, one of which was strictly research oriented and the other a CRM contract project.
